I wanted this piece to be uplifting and full of color and energy. Set beneath a colorful sky on a beautiful day in springtime with the poppies and wildflowers in full bloom, I hope all of your cares drift away while gazing into this cheerful scene.

In this vertical wildflower series, I’ve framed the paintings in espresso floater frames so that you can still see the textured oil paint continuing around the edges of the canvas. These poppies look great hung alone or in a grouping, too!

Using broken impressionistic strokes in surprising hues, causes the landscape to dance and flow, and I hope all of your cares drift away while gazing into this cheerful scene.

Palette Knife Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

I painted these Texas bluebonnets and with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve depth and texture. The resulting image comes to life and is loaded with color and energy. In this wildflower series, I’ve painted the scene around the edges of the canvas on 1 and 1/2″ deep stretcher bars so that the painting can be hung without a frame for a contemporary look. Or, I also have a beautiful espresso floater frame where you can still see the painted edges of the canvas if you prefer framed artwork.

SOLD – “What Dreams Are Made Of” Print on Canvas by Niki Gulley

In this painting, I wanted you to feel like a little kid again – laying on the ground and staring up into the treetops without a care in the world. I hope you experience the joy of being surrounded by nature and the beauty in this autumn kaleidoscope of colors.

Here is the artist-embellished print on canvas, “What Dreams Are Made Of,” hanging in its new home!

Canvas Prints now Available: Four 24″ x 24″ canvases are stretched on 3/4 inch stretcher bars with the image continuing around the edges to form a 48″ x 48″ quadriptych that does not need to be framed, just like the original . I have also added thick paint in some of the leaves and trunks to add even more texture and making each print one of a kind. Finally, I have coated the canvases with a UV varnish to protect the paintings. The canvases can be hung right up next to each other or spread apart by a few inches to come out to a maximum of 53″ x 53″. I can also make other sizes or stretch “What Dreams Are Made Of” on deep 1 and 1/2 inch stretcher bars for an additional fee. New “Oak Alley” Palette Knife Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

16″ x 20″ textured oil painting

I painted this colorful oak lined alleyway a couple of weeks ago on location at the Fort Worth Stock Yards. I was attracted to the contrast of light and shadows and the way the oaks lined up to lead you down this dappled path into the background Spanish archway, which was illuminated in glowing whites and yellows by the sun. The colors were duller than this and I wanted a warmer feeling to the scene since it was a chilly morning, so I enhanced the hues to create an uplifting backdrop full of color and energy. Utilizing thick paint and palette knife, I also created a lot of texture and movement with my strokes to add to the joyful feeling of painting on this beautiful morning.

New “Marching into Autumn II” Palette Knife Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley

I loved this brilliant aspen forest with its bright white aspen trunks slicing through all of the vibrant red and yellow foliage, contrasted against the multitude of greens surrounding it. The patterns of the trees created a sort of rhythm and I focused on the placement of the ivory sentinels and strokes in the leaves to add to that feeling of a driving beat. I hope you, too, can feel the energy and joy of being surrounded by nature as autumn is in full swing.

Shimmering in golden light, this backlit grove of aspen trees reaches tall, leaning left and then right towards the sun as it grew. The peeling trunks almost seem to move, even chatting with one another. A few trees weren’t so lucky and lay fallen at their feet, while the whole scene is filled with color, texture and movement to suggest the power of nature and its ability to enhance your spirit.

In this painting, I wanted you to you to experience the joy of looking up into the treetops – just like you did when you were a kid. Lying on the ground, not a care in the world, you gaze in wonderment as the clouds drift by overhead. To accentuate that feeling, I chose this tall vertical canvas, giving you a sense of scale and perspective. Working with warm yellows, reds and greens and utilizing thick chunky sweeping strokes add to that childlike whimsy and I hope you are transported back to a happy, carefree time and place.
