“Autumn Concerto II” by Niki Gulley Available at Seaside Gallery

“Autumn Concerto II” ©2018 Niki Gulley
16″ x 20″ textured oil painting

I’m excited to announce that Seaside Gallery in Pismo Beach, CA is now representing my work. “Autumn Concerto II” along with several of my textured contemporary impressionistic oil paintings will now be on display in their beautiful gallery. To contact them about this painting, please follow the link below.

I painted these colorful birch trees on location with the fall hues emerging in all of their glory. I loved this grove of trunks that twisted and turned, slicing bright white through the tangle of autumn leaves. Painted over several mornings, the air was crisp but the sun made for beautiful painting conditions that illuminated the subject and warmed the air. I hope you, too, can feel the thrill of being surrounded by nature on a perfect fall day.

Maple Treetops Palette Knife Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Maple Treetops”  ©2018 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 9″ x 12″ textured oil painting

Just Sold! Painted on location, I was drawn to the striking reds and oranges of the maple treetops contrasted against the vivid turquoise sky. There was so much energy in the colors and the breeze blowing through the leaves, that I had to capture that feeling. Using diagonal strokes and a lot of paint with my palette knife, this piece is filled with joy, color and movement.

Vermont Fall Foliage Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams
Day 5 – Stowe, VT

Just Sold! On the last day of our New England Fall Foliage Art Trek that my husband, Scott Williams, and I taught, we painters stayed right at our b&b to capture the beautiful views of fall foliage in all its splendor. This scenic overlook filled with rolling crimson and gold hills, framing steep mountain peaks was breathtaking! While we painted, everyone else went into Stowe to shop, explore and photograph some more. After a wonderful morning and lunch, we said our good-byes and hoped to meet again soon on a future Art Trek.

“Autumn Concerto” Fall Foliage Palette Knife Painting by Niki Gulley

“Autumn Concerto” ©2018 Niki Gulley
16″ x 20″ textured oil painting

After we finished teaching our New England Fall Foliage Art Trek, my husband, Scott Williams, and I stayed in beautiful Vermont for another week. Each day we ventured out to capture the beautiful fall foliage on canvas and film before its intensity faded.

Day 3, Morning Location – Northfield, VT

Just Sold! On the third day of our New England Fall Foliage Art Trek that my husband and I led, we checked out of our lodging in Woodstock and headed to Northfield, home of 5 different covered bridges. We set up our easels near the first bridge, attracted to its bright red wood, surrounded by the gorgeous fall foliage. Meanwhile the photographers and the tourists visited the other 5 bridges to take photographs and explore, and meet back with us for lunch. What a fun and challenging way to spend a beautiful morning capturing its beauty.

Visiting Montepulciano and Tuscan Wineries with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Montepulciano ©2018 Niki Gulley • 12″ x 9″ textured oil painting • SOLD
Day 2, Tuscany Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Just sold! The next morning of our Tuscany Art Trek, we headed to the wine town of Montepulciano. Perched atop a giant hill with beautiful views of the surrounding vineyards below, we set up our easels at this breathtaking overlook. We had to work quickly to capture the morning light before it disappeared, while the photographers and the others explored ancient wine cellars, quiet back alleys and even got in a little shopping.

After lunch, we visited two wineries nearby to sample their Rossos, Vino Nobiles and the delicious sweet dessert wine, Vin Santo. Full from the local meats and cheeses and tasty red wines, we headed back to the villa for a quiet night of relaxing and soaking in the evening scenery.

New “Pop of Color” Palette Knife Poppy Painting by Niki Gulley

“Pop of Color” ©2018 Niki Gulley
24″ x 12″  textured oil paint on wrap around canvas

Inspired from a wonderful trip to Tuscany, I wanted this piece to be uplifting and full of joy and energy. Set beneath a colorful sky on a beautiful day in springtime with the poppies and wildflowers in full bloom, I hope all of your cares drift away and your spirit is lifted while gazing into this cheerful scene.

Day 4, Ireland Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

5″ x 7″ oil painting by Niki Gulley • SOLD

Day 4:  Ireland ART TREK
Cliffs of Moher
Plein Air Painting and Photography Workshop with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Just sold! On the fourth morning of our Ireland Art Trek, we explored the exotic Cliffs of Moher. Unfortunately, we received some of that Irish sunshine and only got in a quick glimpse before the sideways rain and wind got the best of us. Rather than let a few raindrops stop us, I put my easel in my lap in the van and created this view of the cliffs in between storms. It turned out to be a great day! That night we dined again on a delicious seafood dinner at a cozy garden restaurant nearby.

Day 5, Provence Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

“Abbey de Senanque,” Provence ©2015 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 5” x 7″ oil painting

Day 5, Provence Art Trek: the Luberon
Plein Air Painting and Photography Workshop
with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Just Sold! After a peaceful day in the countryside, we headed to the Luberon hill towns today. Starting our journey at the Abbey de Senanque, some of our group toured the twelfth century sanctuary’s interior, while others painted and photographed the lavender fields and grounds surrounding the abbey. Next we traveled to the red and gold colored town of Roussillon, known for its ochre cliffs. Filled with picturesque views, art galleries, restaurants and interesting shops, everyone enjoyed having some free time to wander before we took off for the Pont Julien bridge.

The Roman bridge, dating from 3 BC and constructed without mortar, is an architectural marvel that was still driven on until 2005! After surveying the bridge, we headed back to our b and b. Dinner that night was traditional Provencal fare, including fresh vegetables, fish, meats, and goat cheeses loaded with delicious sauces, garlic and butter. Yum!

Next summer we will be leading an Art Trek to Spain and the following year we will be headed to Tuscany, Scotland and Ireland, so if you’ve always dreamed of painting, photographing and sightseeing in Europe, please join us for one of these amazing trip! See details at ArtTreks.org.

“Visions of Blue III” Palette Knife Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

“Visions of Blue III,” Texas Hill Country ©2018 Niki Gulley
24″ x 12″ textured oil painting

I painted these Texas Bluebonnets and wildflowers with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve depth and texture. The resulting image comes to life and is loaded with color and energy. In this vertical wildflower series, I’ve framed the paintings in espresso floater frames so that you can still see the textured oil paint continuing around the edges of the canvas. These Texas wildflowers look great hung alone or in a grouping with the rest of the “Visions of Blue” series, too!
