New Colorado Wildflower Painting by Palette Knife Artist Niki Gulley

January 10, 2023

SOLD • 24″ x 36″ textured oil painting by Niki Gulley

Just Shipped! I was honored when my collectors reached out to me to create two special custom pieces for their new home in Colorado. I just wish it hadn’t have been under such tragic circumstances. You see they were one of the unfortunate families devastated by last year’s Colorado wildfires and everything they owned was burned to the ground. Truly heartbreaking!

So, wanting to turn that tragedy around, they definitely needed some beautiful, cheerful landscapes to add joy and color to their new place. First they asked me to create a snow-dappled mountain backdrop loaded with colorful wildflowers frosting the foreground. Sprinkle in few of my signature aspen trees and hopefully nature’s palette creates a harmonic concert to fill their hearts and home.

18″ x 24″” textured oil painting on board

I find being immersed in nature can have such an uplifting effect, and I wanted to share that feeling with you in Woodland Adventure. I chose pure, intense reds and yellows contrasted against autumn greens to create a fall forest that vibrates with color and energy.  I placed the vivid foliage in diagonal sweeping shapes to create a sense of movement, so that you can feel the wind gently rustling the leaves and causing them to dance on a beautiful fall day.

36″ x 60″ textured oil painting on canvas

I love being immersed in nature. After living in a city surrounded by concrete and noise, I find being surrounded by mother nature to be extremely cathartic, peaceful and rejuvenating. In Fall Jamboree, I wanted to capture those feelings of happiness and tranquility. Working first with thin drippy paint, and then building up thick layers of oil paint with palette knives to achieve extreme dimension, this painting is loaded with movement, energy and color. I hope it lifts your spirits and recharges your batteries while bringing texture, joy and the outdoors inside your home.

Commissioned Quadriptych Palette Knife Oil Painting by Niki Gulley

January 2, 2023

 ©2022 Niki Gulley

SOLD • Four 28″ x 28″ canvases to form a 56″ x 56″ quadriptych • textured mixed media painting

This year I was honored to have my collectors reach out to me and ask me to create a special painting for them on commission. For several years they had been enjoying a 72″ quadriptych painting of mine. They loved how it brought them such joy and the feeling of being surrounded by the forest. But, when they decided to build a new home, my original painting was too large to fit over the fireplace in their great room. So, they decided to hang the first painting in another room and requested that I paint this new one smaller and to change the scene so that it would reflect the fall trees that grow around their new house. Voila! I hope you, too, can experience the joy of being surrounded by nature’s beauty in this autumn kaleidoscope of colors.
