Painting and Photographing in Santorini, Greece with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Day 3, Greece Art Trek:  Santorini
7″ x 5″ oil painting by Niki Gulley

The next day we painted around the corner from hotel where we had this beautiful vantage point of the white domed church and the ocean below. The photographers viewed more of the town, while others relaxed at the pool at our hotel. That afternoon, we headed to a Santorini winery and sampled the local wines. Yum!

Taking a little time out to enjoy the view and sample the Greek wines, which are quite tasty!
Next summer we will be leading an Art Trek to Spain and the following year we will be headed to Tuscany, England and Ireland, so if you’ve always dreamed of painting, photographing and sightseeing in Europe, please join us for one of these amazing trip! “October Rhythms” Textured Aspen Painting by Niki Gulley – Just Sold

“October Rhythms” ©2015 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 36″ x 48″ textured oil painting on gallery wrap canvas

Just Sold through the Good Art Company Gallery! I find being immersed in nature can have such an uplifting effect, and I wanted to share that feeling with you in October Rhythms. I chose pure, intense reds and yellows contrasted against autumn golds and chocolates to create an fall forest that vibrates with color, energy and sound. The repetition in the aspen trunks and foliage patterns, combined with the flickering tones of the breeze rustling the leaves reminded me of a symphony in the forest so I titled this painting October Rhythms.

“Texas Two Step” ©2015 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 24″ x 12″” textured oil painting on gallery wrap canvas

Just Sold through the Good Art Company Gallery! In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our vibrant Texas wildflowers flowing along the grassy rises and falls of the berms in the Hill Country. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature, Texas Two Step is loaded with texture and color, and almost dances to life. New “Texas Glory” Textured Palette Knife Painting by Niki Gulley

“Texas Glory”  ©2015 Niki Gulley
30″ x 48″ textured mixed media on wrap around canvas

Inspired by a trip to the Texas Hill Country, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling landscape and wildflowers in full bloom. Then, to top it off the sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers. I had to capture the magical moment, enhancing the kaleidoscope of colors in the sky and along the ground. Arranging clouds, the road and rows of bluebonnets in rhythmic sweeping shapes create a harmonious scene that flows with light, texture and color,.

New “Song of the Woods” Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley

“Song of the Woods”  ©2015 Niki Gulley
30″ x 40″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Shimmering colors of autumn: Aspen and Oak trees quiver, their light graceful leaves tremble and quake, silver and gold, scarlet and tangerine, with each light breeze. There is the quiet energy of change coming and vibrant color charges the woods. Crisp fall mountain air, a band of slender trunks cut bright strokes of white against a dazzling kaleidoscope of colors. Staccato strokes and shimmering hues add to the feeling of change in the air and suggest the breeze whistling through the foliage.

“Song of the Woods” along with a few of my textured oils will be on display at Davis and Company Fine Art Gallery north of Houston, TX. If you’d like more details, please follow the link below.
