“Royal Rows” Lavender Field Painting by Niki Gulley

 Royal Rows ©2021 Niki Gulley

20” x 30” textured mixed media on canvas

Inspired by a trip to Provence, these lavender fields were gorgeous and stretched as far as the eye could see! I wanted to focus on the perfectly planted purple rows, contrasted against the vibrant yellow sunflowers in the distance. I love how those colors pop next to each other. Fluffy clouds drift by in diagonal patterns that mimic the lavender aisles and create a harmony throughout the scene. Perspective lines converge, leading you to this joyful spot and I hope you can smell the amazing aromas and feel your spirits lifted while gazing into this scene.

“Royal Rows” is available through the Good Art Company Gallery, goodartcompany.com/gacart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=25&sort=20a&page=1&zenid=417ih04llasuk7pl1h0qhj32k1.

“Azures Waves” Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

“Azure Waves” ©2021 Niki Gulley
12″ x 24″ textured mixed media painting on canvas

On our drive through Ennis this spring, the bluebonnets were so full and thick along Sugar Bush ridge. So, I set up my easel to capture this beautiful, peaceful view. I loved how the undulating rows of the clouds, treetops along the hills and wildflowers in the foreground all repeated similar shapes and wave-like patterns adding to the feeling of symmetry and serenity. I hope you, too, can feel the joy and glory of springtime in Texas!

On our drive through the Hill Country recently, I was drawn to this one lone house nestled amongst the trees, perched on high with this amazing view. A recently formed path guides you on your journey through the azure waves of bluebonnets while you take in their joy and beauty. I hope you, too, can feel the energy and serenity of springtime in Texas!

Just Sold through the Good Art Company Gallery! Painted on location, I was drawn to this expansive mass of yellow wildflowers, stretching all the way from foreground to background blooming in the Hill Country. Just sold through the Good Art Company Gallery! On our drive through the Hill Country recently, I was drawn to this one lone tree rising above the horizon.  Waves of bluebonnets lead your eye into the distance towards that late light illuminating the wildflower filled hill and oak tree. Adding pops of color where the rainbow of wildflowers danced in between the blue also keeps your focus moving from foreground to background. “Lone Star Blooms” Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

“Lone Star Blooms” ©2020 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 30″ x 40″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Just Sold through the Good Art Company Gallery!

In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our bluebonnets and vibrant wildflowers flowing along the grassy rises and falls of our berms in the Texas Hill Country. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms slightly abstract plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way.

“Red Carpet Ride” Texas Wildflower Painting by Niki Gulley

“Red Carpet Ride” ©2020 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 24″ x 36″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Just Sold through the Good Art Company! In this Texas wildflower series, I wanted to capture the excitement and energy felt during a beautiful day in April when the Indian Paintbrush, bluebonnets and wildflowers are painting the horizon in gorgeous shades of reds and blues. Driving through the Hill Country late one day, the sun was just starting to drop, casting this golden hue across all of the wildflowers it hit causing them to glow and dance in the warm light. Deep, long shadows and the abundance of rich crimson Indian Paintbrush added to the drama and magic of the moment. Focusing on the patterns of color and contrast of lights and darks, I wanted to communicate the emotion felt being surrounded by all of this Texas beauty.

I painted “Spring Forward” while visiting the Texas Hill Country. The explosion of color along roadsides was incredible! This morning the sun kept peeking in and out of the clouds, creating a soft glow to everything it touched. I wanted to capture that magical light illuminating your journey lined by bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush. I hope you, too, can feel the excitement of springtime with the wildflowers abloom!
