New “Song of the Woods” Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley

“Song of the Woods”  ©2015 Niki Gulley
30″ x 40″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Shimmering colors of autumn: Aspen and Oak trees quiver, their light graceful leaves tremble and quake, silver and gold, scarlet and tangerine, with each light breeze. There is the quiet energy of change coming and vibrant color charges the woods. Crisp fall mountain air, a band of slender trunks cut bright strokes of white against a dazzling kaleidoscope of colors. Staccato strokes and shimmering hues add to the feeling of change in the air and suggest the breeze whistling through the foliage.

“Song of the Woods” along with a few of my textured oils will be on display at Davis and Company Fine Art Gallery north of Houston, TX. If you’d like more details, please follow the link below.

“Grove of Sunshine” ©2015 Niki Gulley
SOLD 36″ x 60″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

JUST SOLD! This Colorado aspen forest was so dense and beautiful. I loved the pops of vibrant fall colors peeking through the tangled web of white textured trunks. Ruby reds grab your attention while staccato strokes of rich jewel tones cause the foliage to shimmer and long sweeping passages of chartreuse lead your eye across the canvas. I hope you can feel the energy found in nature and its power to invigorate your spirit.

36″ x 48″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Sun sets over this tranquil hideaway, casting its golden glow over the distant hills and fall foliage while kissing the water’s surface, causing it to shimmer and sparkle. I wanted you to experience a feeling of peace and warmth being immersed in the beauty of nature, letting all of your cares drift away.

White Rock Lake Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

“Golden Moment, White Rock Lake” ©2014 Niki Gulley
Textured oil on canvas • 12″ x 24″

On a peaceful autumn day last fall, I went out with my camera to White Rock Lake and captured this beautiful sunset behind the Dallas skyline. I liked how the pampas grass and various plants in the foreground were back lit by the setting sun and how the water’s surface was shimmering from the low light, adding to a sense of mystery and tranquility in that golden moment.

Cottonwood Art Festival this weekend

“Last Light,” Texas Hill Country ©2010 Niki Gulley
12″ x 24″ pastel
We drove down to the Texas Hill Country to see the bluebonnets, and the Willow City Loop did not disappoint! Thick masses of azure blue as far as the eye could see. I was particularly drawn to this scene late in the day when the sun was starting to set and creating interesting long lavender shadows across the gently rolling landscape.
I’ll have this pastel at my booth at the Cottonwood Art Festival, cottonwoodartfestival.com this weekend f you’d like to see it in person. Or, e-mail me at Niki@NikiGulley.com for more information.

San Antonio Fiesta Arts Fair – this weekend

“Hill Country Retreat” by Niki Gulley
24″ x 36″ pastel

This year the bluebonnets were amazing thanks to ideal conditions – just the right amount of rain, sun and temperatures – to produce a solid sea of blue. This patch must have stood out to passersby since there was actually a path carved out down to dirt through the bluebonnets from so many families having chosen it for their photo opportunities. I liked how the trail led you through the Texas wildflowers to the beautiful hill country retreat in the background. I chose this vantage point so that you could feel like you were standing right in the middle of the bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush.
