“Popping Sunshine” ©2023 Niki Gulley
24″ x 12″ textured mixed media on canvas
I absolutely love it when I come across a whole field of wildflowers – there is something about the transformation of a single dainty flower into a dense explosion of color that inspires awe and delights your senses. I liked how these rows of poppies and rolling grasses created a gentle harmony, inviting you to wander into the distance, getting lost in the moment. Full of color and hope, may my “Popping Color” painting transport you to a happy serene place.

As my garden kept evolving this spring, I was treated every day to a new blossoming surprise! Today I was greeted by the most gorgeous roses I’ve seen since I planted them 7 years ago. So, of course I had to go out and capture those beauties before they disappeared.
Wanting to create pieces that are full of joy, energy, texture and light, I painted the blooms large to add to that feeling of hope and exuberance. Choosing to leave the background airy and working with thick layers of white on white paint, multi-colored roses dance along the canvas with spontaneity and freedom. I hope these paintings bring the beauty of nature inside and fill your spirit with light and cheer.
30″ x 30″ textured mixed media painting on 1.5″ gallery wrap canvas with the scene continuing around the edges
I wanted this painting to be about the joy I feel in springtime when Texas wildflowers are bursting forth, creating their symphony of colors. Magical light flows around them casting its warm glow and hope for the upcoming day. As the sun illuminates the horizon, bluebonnets and a kaleidoscope of blooms sparkle and dance across the canvas. I hope “Cobalt Cascade” fills your heart with the power of nature to lift your spirits, energize your soul and bathe you in peace.

What a beautiful surprise to have these roses blooming in my garden this winter! Of course the next night it was supposed to freeze and I couldn’t let these beauties go to waste. After cutting and assembling them in a vase, I just kept staring at them as they were bringing so much color and joy to the grey day. Despite several projects on my plate, I had to take a break and capture these rosy fleeting blooms. May they bring some vibrancy to your winter days, too.
These paintings look great hung alone or in a grouping.
I am in love with my rose bush in my backyard! Each bloom has so many colors and every blossom is slightly different. From pink to red to peach to yellow, they are so beautiful to watch. Today I had to go out in my backyard, set up my easel and capture their joy from life. I hope they lift your spirits, too!

Just Sold! On a visit to New Mexico, we were greeted to cheerful wildflowers blossoming, adding pops of joy and sunshine to the desert scenery. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms and their surroundings abstractly plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way.
