I made sure to not over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the vivacity found in nature. Just sold through the Good Art Company Gallery! On our drive through the Hill Country last spring, I was drawn to this lone grouping of live oaks rising above the horizon. Waves of Texas bluebonnets lead your eye into the distance towards that late light illuminating the wildflower filled hill and foliage. Adding pops of color in between the blooms invites your eyes to dance across the canvas and from foreground to background, feeling the excitement of the moment. “Autumn’s Tapestry” Kid’s Perspective Painting by Niki Gulley

In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up into the treetops and heavens above. Choosing uplifting golds and reds contrasted against a turquoise-blue sky with gentle clouds drifting by, I’ve arranged the aspens in a circular pattern to give you a sense of laying on the ground, surrounded by the forest. Using diagonal leading lines with the tree trunks and limbs, your eye gazes into the focal point where all of the elements come together. Meanwhile, utilizing thick, curving paint strokes adds to that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery.

What a beautiful surprise to have these roses blooming in my garden this winter! Of course the next night it was supposed to freeze and I couldn’t let these beauties go to waste. After cutting and assembling them in a vase, I just kept staring at them as they were bringing so much color and joy to the grey day. Despite several projects on my plate, I had to take a break and capture these rosy fleeting blooms. May they bring some vibrancy to your winter days, too.

I am in love with my rose bush in my backyard! Each bloom has so many colors and every blossom is slightly different. From pink to red to peach to yellow, they are so beautiful to watch. Today I had to go out in my backyard, set up my easel and capture their joy from life. I hope they lift your spirits, too!

“Rural Blues” Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

Just sold! On our drive through Ennis this spring, the bluebonnets were so full and thick along Sugar Bush ridge. So, I set up my easel to capture this beautiful, peaceful view. I loved how the undulating hills, tree lines in the distance and wildflowers in the foreground all repeated similar shapes and wave-like patterns adding to the feeling of symmetry and serenity. I hope you, too, can feel the joy and glory of springtime in Texas!
