New “Ruby Trail” Poppy Painting from Tuscany by Niki Gulley

Ruby Trail, Tuscany ©2020 Niki Gulley

24″ x 24″ textured mixed media on canvas

Inspired from a wonderful trip to Tuscany, I wanted this piece to be uplifting and full of joy and energy. Set beneath a colorful sky with a few clouds drifting by on a beautiful day in springtime, the poppies and wildflowers are in full bloom. Using broken impressionistic strokes in surprising hues, causes the landscape to dance and flow, and I hope all of your cares drift away while gazing into this cheerful scene.

“Ruby Trail” is available through the Good Art Company Gallery, goodartcompany.com/gacart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=25&sort=20a&page=1&zenid=417ih04llasuk7pl1h0qhj32k1.

New “Nature’s Brushstrokes” diptych painting by Niki Gulley

“Nature’s Brushstrokes IV” ©2020 Niki Gulley
24″ x 48″ diptych textured mixed painting on canvas

I love it when we are driving through the countryside and we come across a gorgeous field of wildflowers. The sudden burst of color thrills your senses! I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of this brilliant carpet of red. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms and their surroundings abstractly plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way.

I’m excited to have been invited to exhibit at Studio Seven Arts in Pleasanton, CA. If you’d like to see or find out more details about Nature’s Brushstrokes V, please check them out:

Ruby Woods pastel

pastel • 25″ X 19″
In “Ruby Woods,” I wanted you to be transported to a beautiful autumn day, completely surrounded by nature. Hiking through the forest, hearing the leaves crunching under foot and the canopy rustling above, you can be totally carefree and lost in the peaceful moment. Making short energetic strokes with my pastels and including vivid warm colors add to that joyful feeling of being immersed in nature.

Autumn Pulse oil painting

11” x 14” oil on board

I created this autumn scene with palette knife and extremely thick oil paint to achieve texture and suggest the energy found in nature. Can you feel the breeze blowing through the leaves?
