I’m excited to announce that Seaside Gallery in Pismo Beach, CA is now representing my work. “Autumn Concerto II” along with several of my textured contemporary impressionistic oil paintings will now be on display in their beautiful gallery. I painted these colorful birch trees on location with the fall hues emerging in all of their glory. I loved this grove of trunks that twisted and turned, slicing bright white through the tangle of autumn leaves. Painted over several mornings, the air was crisp but the sun made for beautiful painting conditions that illuminated the subject and warmed the air. I hope you, too, can feel the thrill of being surrounded by nature on a perfect fall day.

After we finished teaching our New England Fall Foliage Art Trek, my husband, Scott Williams, and I stayed in beautiful Vermont for another week. Each day we ventured out to capture the beautiful fall foliage on canvas and film before its intensity faded.

I painted these colorful birch trees on location with the fall hues emerging in all of their glory. I loved this grove of trunks that twisted and turned, slicing bright white through the tangle of autumn leaves. Painted over several mornings, the air was crisp but the sun made for beautiful painting conditions that illuminated the subject and warmed the air. Vermont Fall Foliage Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams
Day 5 – Stowe, VT
 
On the last day of our New England Fall Foliage Art Trek that my husband, Scott Williams, and I taught, we painters stayed right at our b&b to capture the beautiful views of fall foliage in all its splendor. This scenic overlook filled with rolling crimson and gold hills, framing steep mountain peaks was breathtaking! While we painted, everyone else went into Stowe to shop, explore and photograph some more. After a wonderful morning and lunch, we said our good-byes and hoped to meet again soon on a future Art Trek.

Painting and Photographing Vermont with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Vermont Fall Foliage Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams
Day 3, Afternoon Location – Stowe, VT
 
After we finished painting and photographing in Northfield on our New England Fall Foliage Art Trek, we moved onto the picturesque village of Stowe. The painters set up their easels to capture this gorgeous overlook of town with the stark white church below slicing through all of the vibrant foliage, creating the perfect focal point. Meanwhile the photographers and tourists shot and explored nearby. We reconvened that night for an amazing dinner at a local farm-to-table restaurant, enjoying the company of new friends.

Vermont Fall Foliage Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams
Day 3, Morning Location – Northfield, VT
 
On the third day of our New England Fall Foliage Art Trek that my husband and I led, we checked out of our lodging in Woodstock and headed to Northfield, home of 5 different covered bridges. We set up our easels near the first bridge, attracted to its bright red wood, surrounded by the gorgeous fall foliage. Meanwhile the photographers and the tourists visited the other 5 bridges to take photographs and explore, and meet back with us for lunch. What a fun and challenging way to spend a beautiful morning capturing its beauty.

Vermont Fall Foliage Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams
Day 2: Woodstock
 
On the second day of our New England Fall Foliage Art Trek that my husband and I led, we decided to paint right at our b and b because the grounds were so beautiful. Meanwhile the photographers and tourists, visited the nearby towns to photograph covered bridges, wooden barns and the gorgeous fall foliage. I decided to paint this regal birch tree next to our inn. I liked how it was perched on top if this hill, extending towards the sky. The vibrant yellows and orange leaves vibrated with energy against the clear blue sky, and I wanted to capture that feeling on my canvas. What a great way to spend the day!

Vermont Fall Foliage Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams
Day 1: Woodstock
 
This October my husband, Scott Williams, and I taught a plein air painting and photography workshop in Vermont. Our timing was perfect and fall colors were amazing! Our first stop was touring the beautiful countryside and farmland around Woodstock. My painters and I set up our easels  in front of this picturesque barn set in a valley with an explosion of autumn colors for the background. The photographers shot for a while and then continued on to explore more of the area. We reconvened for lunch and that afternoon sampled local cheeses and maple syrups. Delicious! That night, we enjoyed an amazing farm-to-table dinner at a local restaurant.

New Orleans Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

New Orleans Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams
Day 1: Fabourg Marigny
 
Just Sold! On the first day or our New Orleans Art Trek, I took the painters to the far end of the French Quarter to capture some of the beautiful architecture and wrought iron balconies so typical of the city while Scott led the photographers throughout the Quarter looking for the perfect shot. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The weather was a perfect sunny 70 degrees with barely a breeze – ideal painting conditions! We breaked for lunch on delicious crab cakes, salads and sandwiches and returned that afternoon to our morning location to finish our work.

Just Sold! Friends sit and gaze at the mass of beauty and indecision that is the menu. The fear of missing out on any number of delectable dishes makes it nearly impossible to chose. Their eyes waver between the menu in their hands and the massive chalk board that dominates the far wall. Mom’s meatloaf? Good Luck Reuben? And who could pass up the Sleaziest, Cheesiest, Grilled Cheese in Town? But, then, it is found: Chicken Fried Steak, a delicious staple of home-style comfort food.
 
Every once and a while, it’s nice to share a little home-town spirit. Coming from Dallas, I thought it would be nice to capture a local favorite, Lucky’s Cafe, on Oaklawn Ave. Even outside, you can feel the energy that emanates from within and cuts through the heavy blanket of night.
