I was drawn to this meandering path leading through the aspens with its dappled light creating such gorgeous shadows and summer wildflowers brightening the journey. Having fun capturing all of the different textures with palette knife from the lush grasses to the leaves rustling in a gentle breeze to the peeling bark on the aspen trees, I set out to recreate the peace and beauty of this forest. I hope you, too, can feel the serenity of this rejuvenating place and enjoy an uplifting walk in the woods.

Follow the deep wood’s path and wander under a canopy of sheltering leaves, light shifts through each branch and twig. Painted on location, I was drawn to this expansive mass of yellow wildflowers, stretching all the way from foreground to background blooming in the Hill Country. The explosion of sunny color made me feel so happy that I wanted to capture that joy and excitement in my painting. Hints of bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush dot the landscape and long sweeping shapes that flow across the horizontal panorama canvas add peace and happiness as you’re being surrounded by Texas Wildflowers on a beautiful spring day.

Just Sold! This sunflower field that I visited in the middle of the pandemic was GORGEOUS. It felt like it stretched for miles. Bright, happy faces sharing their smiles with us and lifting our spirits. My heart literally swelled and I had to capture all of that joy on canvas. Utilizing vivid, uplifting hues, thick paint and bold, loose strokes add to the happy, carefree feeling of the moment and I hope you are transported there with me.

I painted Autumn Memories to bring back the serenity I feel while walking through the woods on a cool autumn day, being totally immersed in nature, and not a care in the world. I chose pure, intense reds and yellows contrasted against autumn grasses and pops of purple to create a fall forest that vibrates with color, energy and sound. I hope you are transported with me to this cathartic aspen forest!
