New Palette Knife Lavender Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

The
lavender fields in Provence are incredible – perfectly manicured rows
and rows of an explosion of violet as far as the eye can see. I wanted
to try something different in this painting, arranging the purple waves
vertically to draw your eye up to the lone tree in the distance. One
puffy cloud mirrors its shape as the lavender columns create a flowing
rhythm. Perspective lines all converge, leading you to this joyful spot
and I hope you can smell the amazing aromas and feel your spirits lifted
while gazing into this scene!

Festive, sun-filled blossoms dance in the gentle breeze, filling the field with sweet fragrance. This textured painting captures a carefree summer morning with sunflowers overflowing the foreground, filling up the field with joy under sunny skies as voluminous clouds drift by overhead.

New “Memories of Sunshine” Palette Knife Sunflower Painting by Niki Gulley

Memories of Sunshine is inspired from the beautiful sunflower fields we visited in Provence, France. The flowers seemed to stretch forever and the color explosion was out of this world! Back in my studio, I worked from a combination of photos, on-site sketches and memories. Painting the sunflowers full-sized in the foreground helps to bring them to life and hopefully transport you to this happy location. Including surprising pops of vivid color keeps your eye moving throughout the scene, seeing new things each time you look at it, and adds to the joyful feeling.

We actually set up our easels in this gorgeous lavender and sunflower field, where the flowers seem to stretch forever and the color and aroma explosion are out of this world! New Textured Lavender Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

Just sold through the Good Art Company Gallery in Fredericksburg, TX. The lavender fields in Provence are incredible – perfectly manicured rows and rows of an explosion of violet as far as the eye can see. I wanted to try something different in this painting, arranging the purple waves vertically to draw your eye up to the stone farmhouse perched on top of one of the distant hills. Wispy clouds mirror similar patterns as the lavender columns and create a harmony between foreground and background, while perspective lines all converge at the summit, leading you to this joyful, peaceful spot. I hope you can smell the amazing aromas and  feel your spirits lifted while gazing into this scene!

For the month of March,  I will be one of the featured artists at the Good Art Company.
