New “Awakenings” Palette Knife Painting by Niki Gulley

“Awakenings” ©2022 Niki Gulley

Four 36″ x 36″ canvases to form a 72″ x 72″ quadriptych • Textured Mixed Media Painting

In “Awakenings” I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up into the treetops, mesmerized by the scene overhead. I’ve arranged the trunks in a spiral pattern so that you have the sense of laying on the ground, surrounded by the woods as they connect with the heavens above. Flowing from one season to the next, my goal is to not only show the beauty of nature, but also bring awareness to the importance of protecting our forests. Trees are the lifeblood of our planet. We are their stewards, and as such, it is up to us to ensure their survival. The ascending vortex and the seasons continuous transitioning, reminds us of the cyclical forces of life and what our place can be within it. Possibilities are endless. Relax. Contemplate. Dream.

“Let the Sun Shine In” #4 ©2022 Niki Gulley
11″ x 14″ Textured Oil Painting on 3/4″ Stretched Canvas
Painting continues around the edges so that it can be hung without a frame.

Once more sunflowers are the vibrant burst of joy that are continuing to bring happiness into my day. I love going by the window and seeing them in the backyard to greet me. It is almost like they are smiling and waving to me.

“Springtime Blues” ©2020 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 36” x 60” mixed media on canvas

Just Sold through the Good Art Company! I wanted to show Texas’ spring landscape in a completely different way. With an aura of mystery and the promise of what tomorrow holds, late day light sparkles over the horizon casting its warm glow kissing everything it touches with glimmers of hope. Rows and rows of bluebonnets and colorful wildflowers dance in the sparkling light, leaving the landscape loose and free so that your imagination can tell its story. May you relish the joy in the beauty of nature, bathing in the moment and looking forward to what tomorrow will bring.

“Running Red III” Textured Poppy Painting by Niki Gulley

“Running Red III” ©2022 Niki Gulley

30″ x 48″ Textured Mixed Media on Canvas

In this series, I wanted to create pieces that are full of joy, energy, texture and light. Working on oversized canvases and painting the blossoms larger than life add to that feeling of hope and exuberance. Choosing to leave the background airy and working with thick layers of white on white paint, ribbons of brightly colored blooms dance across the canvas with spontaneity and freedom. Subconsciously, I feel like these light-filled visions came to me in response to so much bad news and the COVID lockdown. Searching for a way to create more space, room to roam and the freedom to live life to its fullest, I hope these paintings bring the beauty of nature inside and fill your spirit with light and cheer.

New “Kinetic Blues II” Highly Textured Bluebonnet Painting by Niki Gulley

“Kinetic Blues II” ©2022 Niki Gulley

SOLD • 36″ x 36″ textured mixed media on 1.5″ gallery wrap canvas with the painting continuing around the edges

Just sold through the Good Art Company Gallery!  I wanted this painting to convey the joy of being surrounded by our gorgeous Texas wildflowers. Painting these bluebonnets larger than life and flinging and pouring paint to create a joyful, kinetic kaleidoscope, I feel like the result really lifts one’s spirits. Playing with a calming palette of blues, yellows and greens and building up a lot of texture with palette knives also adds to the energetic, peaceful presence of being immersed in nature.
