New “Country Road” Textured Oil Painting by Niki Gulley

“Country Road” ©2024 by Niki Gulley

10″ x 20 textured oil painting on canvas panel

New England in the fall is breathtakingly beautiful! The autumn leaves explode with a symphony of crimson and gold that makes my heart leap with joy. Add to that this picturesque, quaint country road and I just had to get out my paints to capture the storybook setting. I hope this scene transports you to a simpler time and place!

“Interpreting Impressionism” by Palette Knife Artist Niki Gulley

20″ x 16″ textured oil painting on canvas

Painted at a park near my home, I loved all of the spring colors surrounding this peaceful pond. Having fun working with complimentary colors much like the impressionists and utilizing large textured strokes, cause this piece to dance with joy and energy. May you escape with me into nature’s beauty!

SOLD • 36″ x 36″ textured mixed media on 1.5″ gallery wrap canvas with the painting continuing around the edges

Just sold! With such depressing news these days, I felt compelled to paint something that would make us feel much better. And, it worked on me, so I hope it does the same for you. I felt so much happier after painting this larger than life bluebonnet and Indian Paintbrush scene. Working with palette knife and a lot of texture, reveling in the process of flinging and pouring paint to create a joyful, kinetic kaleidoscope, and playing with a cheerful palette of reds, yellows and blues, I feel like this one really lifts one’s spirits and has a touch of whimsy to it.

Contemporary Floral Triptych Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

 “Chromatic Transitons” ©2024 Niki Gulley

Three 36” x  18” mixed media paintings on canvas to form a 36″ x 54″ triptych

Spreading their joy across the landscape, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of beautiful, uplifting wildflowers in bloom. Starting with the first signs of spring when prolific bluebonnets carpet the hills, moving into May as vibrant poppies cast their merriment and energy, and finally transitioning into mid-summer when the amazing aromas of lavender fill the air. Dreamy light illuminates the sky and dances across the blanketed fields to bring nature’s glory, hope and serenity to your home.

Please visit the Good Art Company Gallery in Fredericksburg, TX at goodartcompany.com/niki-gulley for more details on this “Chromatic Transitions” triptych filled with joy, color and texture!

“Evolving Seasons” Large Scale Quad Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Evolving Seasons” ©2024 by Niki Gulley

Four 48″ x 36″ textured oil painting to form a 48″ x 144″ quadriptych

I wanted to create a large horizontal quadriptych, or four piece painting, that would flow from one season to the next to show the beauty of the forest throughout the year. Working on such a large scale invites you to step right into the scene and take a walk through the woods, enjoying all of the peace and joy that nature has to offer.

Here you can see all four paintings in a row, flowing from spring to summer and fall to winter. Rather than show the same exact scene at four different times of year, I decided I would rather show one long forest evolving from one season to the next to create a better harmony across the canvases. From the ground gently undulating underneath, to the pine trees flowing from canvas to canvas, to the rhythm created from aspens and oaks repeating, to the foliage and pops of color emerging and drifting into the distance, all elements are designed to add to the flowing symphony in “Evolving Seasons.

Day 7 – Cascais

At the end of our trip, we stayed right at our home base town, Cascais. The Atlantic Ocean hugs its coastline, and there is a great walking trail all along the city. After finishing taking in the beautiful scenery along the water, we wandered the maze of tiled streets throughout town, soaking in the architecture and energy.

Here is just one of the beautiful views from everyone’s balcony on our Portugal Art Trek. I’ve always loved lighthouses so I had to capture this blue and white one as late day light caused it to pop against the blue ocean.

We finished the night with a delicious dinner of Portuguese tapas. A great way to end the trip!

Day 6 – Belém

Today we rode the train to visit the important town of Belém, with visits to Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery. The church, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site shows the distinctive Manueline architecture and Vasco de Gama’s tomb.

Meanwhile I decided to paint having toured the sites a few times in the past. Talk about some crazy atmospheric light! One minute the sun would be out and the next dramatic skies looked like they would pour down on us. Fortunately we never got rain all day and it made for interesting painting conditions. I had fun painting this cypress lined park with the monastery peeking through in the distance.

That evening we treated ourselves to a relaxing boat cruise along the Tagus river. Mother nature held out and we were able to enjoy a sunset cruise as we sipped on some local Portuguese wines!
