Since the leaves are just barely turning and we are in Acadia National Park, after all, I just had to paint this gorgeous ocean view that screams we are in Maine! Fascinating rock cliffs surrounded by pine trees, an endless expanding horizon, and listening to the crashing waves as they approach the shore, are just what the doctor ordered. How does it make you feel?

Back for day 2 in Arcadia National Park! I’m so glad we allowed for a few days here. Today we are in our RV, so parking is a bigger challenge. But, we found this beautiful spot alongside the road with plenty of room to park. The birches are starting to turn colors and I love this peaceful lake view. I hope it transports you to serenity, too!

Oh Maine! Such rugged beauty! In this piece I painted just outside of Bar Harbor, you can see the beginnings of fall hues. Birch trees are starting to vibrate with color, foreground grasses and wildflowers are bursting with joy and views over the vast ocean show glimpses of Bar Island nestled in Frenchman Bay.

New “Cadillac Mountain” Painting from Acadia National Park by Niki Gulley

Today we arrived in Acadia National Park in Maine and since no RV’s are allowed at the summit, we rode our scooter to the top of Cadillac Mountain. It was gorgeous! But there is not much room for art supplies in our little scooter’s storage compartment, so I packed my 5″ x 7″ paint gear and sat down on a fairly comfy boulder to paint this scenic view. With the first hints of fall in the ground cover adding a fun pop of red, I set out to capture this beautiful view of the rocks, pine trees, jagged hills and ocean.

We are loving the peaceful surroundings of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. We booked this picturesque campsite where we have our own dock and lake view. This morning we woke up to this serene scene, and of course, I just had to paint it! Golden light illuminating the beginnings of fall with a gentle ripple causing the reflections to meld into a beautiful symphony of colors.

Having been diagnosed with several health issues and autoimmune diseases, I have witnessed first hand the healing power of nature. Hearing the leaves crunch while walking through the woods, listening to the birds sing, gazing in awe at a gorgeous sunrise and sunset, feeling your heart fill near a vibrant field of wildflowers, or just relaxing to the cathartic sounds of ocean waves lapping against the shore, all help reset your soul. That joy, hope and serenity is what I want to share with you in my paintings so that you can feel it, too.

As we depart on our Northeast Fall Freedom Foliage Tour, I can’t wait to be surrounded by Mother Nature’s beauty and healing ability, and bring you that experience in my creations!

New “Golden Undulation” Textured Painting by Niki Gulley from Tuscany

My husband and I stumbled upon this quintessential Tuscan farmhouse while out for a scenic drive this spring. Perched alone on top of this hill, we loved how the incredibly long cypress lined driveway was silhouetted by the sky. The soft light caused the hills to glow the most intense golden chartreuse, and I felt compelled to capture the beautiful scene. Unfortunately that meant I had to set up my easel alongside a rather busy road. Undeterred by the constant parade of racing traffic and horn honking semi trucks, I quickly got to work in order to paint these gorgeous clouds and light before they were gone.
