New Cheerful Sunflower Painting of the Blue Ridge Mountains by Niki Gulley

“Springing with Joy” ©2026 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 48″ x 36″ textured acrylic painting on wrap around canvas

Just sold! This piece is all about capturing that feeling of wandering through a summer meadow where every color of the rainbow seems to be blooming at once. My palette knife allows me to build up those chunky, textured strokes that make the flowers feel dimensional and alive. Painting the sunflowers full-sized in the foreground helps to bring them to life and hopefully transport you to this happy location. Including surprising pops of vivid reds and purples keeps your eye moving throughout the scene, seeing new things each time you look at it, and adds to the joyful feeling.

Or, if you would prefer a print on canvas, please e-mail Niki Gulley for details.

Asheville Artist Niki Gulley Exhibits at the North Carolina Arboretum “Art in Azaleas” Exhibit

“Arched Beauty” ©2026 Niki Gulley
20″ x 10″ textured acrylic painting on canvas

I love the vivid warm colors of the Arboretum’s Azaleas popping against the complimentary green hues of the foliage. It is such a peaceful escape to wander the trails and discover something new around every bend. Choosing a vertical panoramic format for this one invites you to admire the azaleas, continue along your path towards the light and the beautiful forested canopy in the distance, all while lifting your spirits.

I’m excited that this piece was chosen to exhibit at the NC Arboretum’s Native Azalea Art Show!

New Sunflower Painting Bursting with Joy by Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Blooming Desires” ©2025 Niki Gulley
24” x 48” textured acrylic painting on canvas

How about some cheerful sunflowers to brighten the end of 2025? These beauties with heads larger than dinner plates were bursting with joy this summer! Planted for what felt like miles stretching along the Biltmore property, they were full of so much hope and sunshine I just had to paint them. I loved the Blue Ridge Mountains peeking through above them in the distance, giving you a sense of just how tall and majestic these blooms were. May they brighten your day, too!

24″ x 24″ Textured Acrylic on Canvas

What a beautiful surprise to have these roses blooming in my garden this winter! Of course the next night it was supposed to freeze and I couldn’t let these beauties go to waste. After cutting and assembling them in a vase, I just kept staring at them as they were bringing so much color and joy to the grey day. Despite several projects on my plate, I had to take a break and capture these rosy fleeting blooms. May they bring some vibrancy to your winter days, too.

SOLD • 16″ x 16″ Textured Mixed Media on Canvas

Just shipped!  I was so pleased when my collector reached out to me and asked me to create a special   painting for her to coordinate and hang together with a previous painting that she was enjoying from me. I had just the reference in mind, too!  These roes from my backyard were bringing so much color and joy to our spring, that I knew they would do the same for this homeowner. And, that was the best feeling when she let me know how much she loved this painting and how perfectly it complimented her collection.

“Gardening Joy” Rose Painting by Palette Knife Artist Niki Gulley

“Gardening Joy” ©2024 Niki Gulley
20″ x 10″ Textured Mixed Media on Canvas

As my garden kept evolving this spring, I was treated every day to a new blossoming surprise! Today I was greeted by the most gorgeous roses I’ve seen since I planted them 7 years ago. So, of course I had to go out and capture those beauties before they disappeared.

Wanting to create pieces that are full of joy, energy, texture and light, I painted the blooms large to add to that feeling of hope and exuberance. Choosing to leave the background airy and working with thick layers of white on white paint, multi-colored roses dance along the canvas with spontaneity and freedom. I hope these paintings bring the beauty of nature inside and fill your spirit with light and cheer.
