This is part of a new series of paintings that I am doing that incorporates a couple of different techniques, from thicker paint applied with palette knife   along with drips and swirls. This gives the painting even more of a 3D feel that just comes alive and jumps off the page.

With such a rich kaleidoscope of hues from the Texas wildflowers, I am like a kid in a candy store every time I go out. The interplay of color between the Indian Paintbrush, Bluebonnets and assorted other wildflowers allows me to stretch the spectrum in this natural palette.

Anytime you need your spirits lifted, head out to a field of Bluebonnets. There is something magical about a massive carpet of wildflowers that puts a smile on people’s faces. Anyone that has spent some in the Texas Hill Country in the spring knows all about the stunning fields of Bluebonnets. It is one of the things that draws me down there every year. It has gotten to be almost a pilgrimage where I get to go down and commune with nature.
