Painting Rhododendrons on Roan Mountain by Asheville Artist Niki Gulley

“Rhododendron Splendor” ©2025 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 30″ x 48″ textured acrylic painting on canvas

Just Sold! This summer we hiked the Appalachian Trail along Carver’s Gap to see the breathtaking Rhododendrons blooming along Roan Mountain. Not only were the flowers spectacular, bursting with every shade of red from magenta and pink to tangerine orange, but the mountain views were so inspiring. On one side you could see for miles into Tennessee and on the other side ridge after ridge of North Carolina. While the hike started out fairly clear, the clouds started to roll in as we climbed higher. But, I loved how that made the fog start dancing along the blue ridge peaks. Luckily, I got some good photographs of the scene before we were doused in rain and had to turn back. I hope you enjoy the peace and beauty as you escape into this gorgeous hike!

“Autumn’s Tapestry” Kid’s Perspective Painting by Niki Gulley

“Autumn’s Tapestry” ©2025 Niki Gulley
textured oil painting on board • 20″ x 20″

In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up into the treetops and heavens above. Choosing uplifting golds and reds contrasted against a turquoise-blue sky with gentle clouds drifting by, I’ve arranged the aspens in a circular pattern to give you a sense of laying on the ground, surrounded by the forest. Using diagonal leading lines with the tree trunks and limbs, your eye gazes into the focal point where all of the elements come together. Meanwhile, utilizing thick, curving paint strokes adds to that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery.

Bougainvillea Painting from Santorini by Palette Knife Artist Niki Gulley

12″ x 9″ textured acrylic painting on canvas panel by Niki Gulley

Santorini, Greece

Painted on location in Santorini, Greece, this Bougainvillea vine was so gorgeous that I just had to paint it. Gently stretching to the sky and framing the doorway, this magenta beauty formed the perfect welcoming entrance. In the distance you can see the white-washed architecture with the church perched at the top of the hill and the blue Aegean stretching beyond. Step inside, enjoy the view and let all of your cares slip away.

Asheville’s Vibrant Art Scene Opens New Gallery and Artist Studios

36″ x 36″ “Floating Dreams”
Lotus Painting by Niki Gulley

Things are progressing so quickly here in Asheville! In less than a week, I’ve rented a studio in the coolest building and newest artist collective. Next to downtown, I’ve started to set up shop in the former MOOG Music Building along with many talented local artists. Part studio space, part gallery (think Torpedo Factory meets commercial gallery setting), I’m so honored and excited to be a part of this new venture.

And, if you’re in the area, let me know and I’ll be happy to show you around.

Plus on March 7th Resurrection Studios Collective will be hosting a grand opening celebration for an unforgettable evening of art, music, and community. I’d love to see you there!
